Dr. Brinkworth earned a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the City University of New York Graduate Center, completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the department of Pediatrics at the Universite de Montreal in 2015, and started as an Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the Fall of 2015. Dr. Brinkworth uses a mix of immunological, genomic and bioinformation techniques to address the physiological consequences of human experience and evolutionary past, particularly those that affect the immune system. Her current projects functional divergence and diversification of primate immune systems, how past epidemics affect present day immune function diversity and how life experience affect the immune response. In addition to the original journal articles she has authored, Dr. Brinkworth has edited the book “Primates, Pathogens and Evolution”
