Actress, comedienne Amy Schumer’s father got a chance to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with his daughter Thursday.
The Snatched star, 36, shared an emotional video of her father, Gordon, on her Instagram account. https://instagram.com/p/BbkrGBlF6UZ/
He was standing with the help of a medical device. Gordon’s multiple sclerosis means he is reliant on a wheelchair to get around.
“My dad stood today with the help of a device. But he stood,” Schumer wrote in the caption. “Thank you to his nurse Sam. Dr Kanter and Dr Sadiq everyone at Tish for their MS stem cell work. Also Pure Prairie League for their song “Aime” his favorite song. We had a good day.”
Amy’s Dad was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis when the actress was 12. She serves on the board of the Tisch Center where her father received his stem cell treatment. Stated Schumer in 2016, “Very proud to serve on the board and work together to eliminate MS!”
MS is an incurable nervous system disease that disrupts the flow of information between the brain and the body. Symptoms of the disease may vary, but often include vision loss, pain, impaired coordination and difficulty moving. Schumer’s father needs the assistance of a wheelchair as a result of his symptoms.
